A fire in New York killed 19 people, including 9 children! One of the largest fires in the city happened because of a heater

The cause of one of the largest fires in a multi-storey building in New York, which claimed the lives of at least 19 people, was a faulty heater. This was announced at a press conference on Sunday by the head of the city's fire department, Daniel Nigro.

"It all started with a faulty electric heater. This caused the fire," he said.

According to Nigro, the fire started in a two-storey apartment on the second floor. The fire spread due to the door not closed by the owners during the evacuation. As a result, the second and third floors were engulfed in fire, and the entire building was covered in smoke. Victims were found literally on all floors of the house.

In total, 19 people died due to the incident, including nine children. New York Mayor Eric Adams called this fire one of the largest in the history of the city.
